How do you make more torque?
I am wandering how do so many people have so much torque. I have a big cam and good heads and only make 393 rwqt with the cutouts open and 380 with them closed through stock mufflers. My last 224 cam netted me 397 rwtq through the stock mufflers. 17 rwtq less with a cam that make 35 more hp. I need some torque my car is very hard to drive with this clutch that has no slipage. Mods are in the sig, can anyone offer any help!

Seems like a 237/242 cam is very big for a 346. The big cams can give up torque down low. A smaller cam would help with the mid-range torque IMO because that seems like a cam for ~382 or so.
What gears do you have?
4.10's would go a long way toward helping the car feel like it has more torque and make it a little easier to drive.

I know the cam is big but I was hopping for at least 405 rwtq through the mufflers. I was hopping for 460 rwhp and 405+rwtq. But after all the money I have spent I will be happy with 380 rwtq. Even though the car sucks to drive and everyday I drive it it makes me start to hate it more.
The clutch is a Ram 980 centered disk and let me tell you the pedel effort is at least 10 times harder than stock but they tell me it wont slip. My wife cant push the pedel so she quite driving it.

You might try some matching gears for your cam, some 4:10's or better would be my suggestion. That would help your torque problem.
I personally think your cam is too big for your car. I think you might look a down sizing the cam a bit. Those big cams just don't make much low end torque.

Yeah.. my car doesn't make any torque either... Its gotten to where I look forward to your posts, your level of stupidity continues to amaze me.
Now for the technical part. I'm really thinking that your cam is too big.. I know that's kinda an "experimental cam".. so maybe it just isn't doing what it's supposed to. Doing a cam swap isn't "too" hard, I'd like to see if switching to a reverse split would pick up the torque. I'm sure you could talk Jason and Trevor into something using their Reverse 231

I just got off the phone from Jason and we are talking about a new cam in their design. Gomer thanks for the confidence you have for me-jk. We are talking about clutches and gears as well.
