Buying a Used Cam?
I'm thinking of buying a TR224/224 112 with about 12K miles and Comp 918 Valve Springs also with 12K miles on them. Is it safe to buy a used cam with this many miles on it?

thats not that many miles and the cams are hydraulic rollers so wear is minimal. i'd pick up the cam and pass on the springs; pick up some new 918's or the manley kit. as for the serial number before you buy and run it by jason or angie from TR so you can find out if indeed its a real TR cam.

Used cams typically have very little wear. A used cam can be an excellent bang for the buck since a lot of guys on this board change cams more frequently than they change underwear. I agree with jrp, I would invest in new springs anytime you change cams. The TR cams have agressive lobe profiles and can work the springs pretty good. I also agree that you should verify the specs of the used cam at least by the serial number or part number on the cam.
jrp - "Cams are like women - they all have ***** but some are bigger than others and YOU just need to figure out if you like'em big or small "
My cam has *****? I need to spend more time with my cam.

I bought my cam and springs used. I wasnt going to buy used springs but they only had 2500 miles on them.Plus $275 total including gaskets and bolt isnt too bad. I am cheap.
