Looking for good engine builder in Sacramento, CA area
X Post from Western Region.....
I am looking for a good engine builder in the Sacramento area for my LS1.
I am not looking to go ***** out on the rebuild. Just need it gone through with the normal rebuild stuff and maybe a mild cam and maybe some head work.
This is for a conversion that I am working on and I still have to go through California BAR inspection and smog test. It is going into a 1986 Turbo 944 Porsche!
Please let me know who you would recommend.
Thanks!

For the machine work, I'd recommend Mothers Machine on Fair Oaks. They aren't crooks, the turnaround was decent and their pricing isn't greedy. A few of my friends use them.
Most of the old-school guys use Rex Hutchinson, but I've never had anything done when they said it would be.
There's a few others that have a good rep, but I've never used them.
There's a LS1 "specialist" in the area, but I can't recommend them based on my personal experience...and I'm not going to elaborate.
If you need tuning, I would highly recommend Mark Romans. He's very knowlegable and doesn't have the giant ego like the others.
