Default easiest way to put in main seals??

what the best way to put in the main seals?front and back?least likely way to damage them?thanks guys!

I use some PVC pieces I got at lowes, some digging and I found one for each thst worked perfect I have never had any leaks, put the seal in the housing, put the piece of pvc on top of the seal with a piece of wood on top to distribute the force equally and my dead blow hammer easy as can be.
