DIY Drysump without the cost?

DIY Drysump without the cost? how hard would it be to run an external tank that the stock pump feeds from then, an electric pump like used in the STS kits is used to return it to the tank from the pan?
possibly run a line to the stock drain plug for the scavenger pump?
just thinking "out loud" so to speak i guess.
the hardest part would be the pan mods to feed from the tank to the stock pump i suppose.
