Default coolant leaking out of header bolts???

ok, so i just put on a set of ported head and a new cam, etc. i am not having coolant leak out of my header bolts. i hear the water passages are really close to the bolt holes but they should be blind holes. so, if someone uses bolts that are too long they will break through. i hear the fix is to use some teflon tape on the threads of the bolts. i wish i didn't have to deal with this but apparently i do. i am using stock bolts so i know i didn't use ones that were too long. apparently the user that i bought the heads from did this. is using teflon tape on the threads a viable option?

Yes, of course. Also, Permatex thread sealer can be used. Don't sweat it. Punching through blind holes while porting happens a lot. Also, be sure to put sealer on your rocker bolts. The rocker holes are the most common to break through when porting. If you don't seal the rocker bolts, oil will walk into the intake runner & into the combustion chamber.
