Default Finishing my list for 04 GTO, need timing chain help

04 GTO M6.

Read that I should upgrade to the LS2 stock timing chain if nothing else. When you search LS2 timing chain set, it brings up a set such as an 05 Chevy SSR w/LS2 and lists a stock style Cloyes set for around $28~$40. On the performance list for the SSR they list the Cloyes part #93158.

When I looked up the LS2 05-06 GTO it only lists the Cloyes #93158. Which is like $150+.

I'm only looking to make 400-500hp peak. Going on a daily driver, I don't wanna modify anything. Will it work properly or just put an LS1 chain back on it?

I just did mine and went with the whole SET. If you buy just the chain it's pretty cheap. Texas speed sells the chain or the set for a good price. I would recommend changing the chain and sprockets if your going to be removing the oil pump already. The LS2 chain fits without any modification btw.

Here you go. CLICK!

Awesome! Thanks dude. I didn't plan on removing the oil pump so I'll probably just go with the chain. Its amazing looking at that difference.

I didn't change the crank sprocket but I did change the cam sprocket. The LS2 chain is a good choice.

no need to chain sprockets if you have the chain. In my builds that Ive done in the past I just bought a ls2 timing chain throw it on and be done with it!

I know the LS2 set is tried and true, in fact I planned to run it on my setup. But when I called TSP to order I was told that the In-Motion single roller set was actually better than the LS2 and cheaper. Looked like a quality piece when I opened up the box, just thought I'd pass that on to ya.

You'll need to remove the pump in order to remove the chain....unless your LS2 is different from my LS6.

Great lookin Z^^^

Next question lol... I was talking to my friend and he said that they oil pump had to be "set" a certain way once it is pulled off. Like all the gear teeth had to all be set the same distance and clearance... I've never heard of such a thing. He is supposed to bring me his LS1/LS6 book and let me read on how to do it. My car has a few miles so I really wanna put a chain on it.
