Default Help from Engine Builders, RE: Road Race LS1

With regard to a road race LS1, that must be stock displacement and must use the LS1 intake (late intake OK) and 75 mm throttle body. How much benefit would you gain from nice ported stock heads? Since 243's are pent roof design I think they will be ok.

Cam and compression would be free.

Would the 75 mm throttle body and unmodified intake choke it down to where the ported heads would be of little value?

What kind of Flywheel HP/torque might you expect on a 12 to 1 motor?

thanks for any help

Heads/cam will help a ton even with a stock ls6 intake. Being a roadrace car I'd run a little softer lobe cam and decide how much low end you still want. 12:1 should make 450 whp +.

No need for such a high compression. Yes intake will be a choker but not enough to not warrant ported heads. Stock valved 243s with a Pro VJ, CNC and hand finished will do the trick.
This is not Old SBC, LS heads do not require such high compression.
