Default Another "WTF is this thing" Thread

My motor guy said it came out of the oil pan by the hole where the dipstick tube goes. What is it and what do I do with it? He said he could push it into the pan very easily. It seems to fit in with the dipstick assembly.

Nevermind, looks like it was the bottom part of the dipstick tube. Broke off in the oil pan.

If the pan is off, the other question is where did the o-ring that was on the tube go? Look things over good while its apart.

The whole motor was rebuilt. So everything was completely cleaned up before being put back together. I really have to wonder how long this was broken. I had to screw with it a lot during my header install about 2 years ago.
