Default LS3 top end/LQ4

Hey guys,

I currently have a all stock lq4. I just purchased ls3 heads and a ls3 intake set up. Will it be worth it to swap my dished pistons out for som stock ls2/lq9 pistons and rods? I want to see if it will be worth the time to try to raise the compression. Im going to try to get as close to 500whp as possible for my 3000lbs firebird.

Also, if i swap pistons, I have no problem having them fly cut before the install so I have extra cam clearance and can run a thinner head gasket. Id like areound 11:1 if possible.

Let me know what you think.

Dustin

Hey dude that's what I'm doing with my LQ4
West coast stage 3 L92s
Thunder racing custom cam
Eagle rotating assembly 11:1 cr with -4cc dish pistons
Mast carbed intake manifold

If your looking to put a big cam in def get dish pistons, just stock castings or aftermarket port polish work ?

I'm guessing street/strip car ??

Its going in a 84 trans am with a t56. Its gonna be mostly a weekend toy and occasional strip car.

They are stock ls3 castings from sdpc. I dont wanna run a massive cam that isnt fun to drive, But i want that muscle choppy idle and a good useable powerband and 470-500whp would be amazing. Ill be using a LS3 intake and injectors/fuel rail and a 92 mm tb.

I have a lead on a set of ls2 pistons, so I may just get them and have them fly cut like .080" for my valves and then mill my heads about .010 to make them perfect straight and give me that little bump in comp.
