Default P1153 code and black smoking

I am getting a P1153 code. I notice that every now and then when I hit it, I can see a big puff of black smoke when I look in the rear view mirror. The 1153 code could be a bad O2 sensor but would it get bad enough to cause black smoking. I assume the black smoking is the engine dumping fuel to get the O2 sensor to read right? Do I have a bigger problem??

PO1153 is bank two sensor one, insufficient switching. Sounds like your computer is compensating by adding fuel.

After headers my car was throwing that code also.

Your car is rich because it's probably running in open loop mode most of the time now. After startup and warm-up, my car would only run in closed loop for a few seconds until it detected the bad 02 and switch back to open loop.

Your probably going to need a new 02 sensor… first, I’d swap the front two 02’s see if the code switches to the other side (p1133 – I believe is the same code for the other 02 bank).
