Default LS2 Heads on LS1

I just bought a stock 98 ls1 and am looking to put some ported ls6 heads on it! My question is will the 243 or 799 casting heads from a ls2 work on my stock ls1. I have been told the combustion chambers were different and that they wouldnt work!

thanks,

Josh

A guy is trying to sell me a set of 799 ls2 heads! They have some port work but just wanted to make sure they will fit!

799 are the same thing as 243 just different casting facility, with port work they should be a very good upgrade

Will I need to change anything or will these just bolt on up and go? Im looking at doing a custom grind cam as well!

I ran 799s (TSP LS6 Stg 2) with my Pat G grind and loved it. They'll be fine. Get a port/valve/mill job on them and they'll flow like a champ.

799's are essentialy the same thing as 243's. cast in different locations but they have the same chambers and ports.

these heads with a little work can be killer. my soon-to-be set up is going to be milled, pp'd, vj'd 799's with ls6 hollow/NaK valves and custom cam. hoping for around 440 rwhp. and this car is my DD so i'm leaving some on the table.

define "port work" its very very easy to make a set of heads flow worse if someone doesnt know what they are doing.

799, 243, LS6, LS2. They are the same casting. Only an actual LS6 243 will have lightweight valves.

This info is probably posted on this board somewhere.s
