Default Ticking- lifter or check valves?

My car has recently developed a tick when I run it hard. I believe its a lifter but I have heard of the check valves in the air tubes ticking with headers. If I let the car idle or shut it off for about 30 seconds it goes away.I have tried to listen and find the noise but can not locate it. Any idea's? I have 918's and Ti retainers with chromemoly PR's

I had a problem like that.It ended up being a ripped oil pump pickup tube o-ring.It cause air bubbles to get in your oil and collapse your lifters.

I had a problem like this and it was a ticking noise that ended up being a exhaust leak from the air tubes.
replace those gaskets and see what happens since those are easy to replace.

I thought of the oil pump o-ring but it has over 45 psi at idle and well up as rpm rises. If the o-ring was torn wouldn't it have pressure problems?

Just because it is holding oil pressure, doesn't mean there could not be a problem with the o-ring. Mine did the exact same thing, good oil pressure, but ticked after x number of minutes. Sounds like it is an o ring problem. Did you remove the oil pump or unbolt it from the pick-up tube to install a timing chain or ported oil pump?

The dealer had replaced my oil pump before I did the timing chain. When I pulled it apart the the seal was pinched so I replaced it. The car did not tick for several months after I had it apart. Could it have sealed for awhile then started leaking.
