Default the time for a cam has come

What cam would you advise for yukon 5.3l? the vehicle used everyday as my wife's transportation. I want to give it a little more power all over. however i don't want to need extensive tunning or rough idle. also the stock cam specs for a 2000 5.3l would be appeciated.

go with a 212/218 or maby a lil bigger for good torque and low end power.
will run on a stock tune and will idle great.

You can maybe go with 218/220 its a pretty good all around cam and the bad isnt bad. If you feel up to it maybe some 1.8 rockers too.

How about a 224 cam on a 115 LSA, might been a little tuning one time, but that would be a smart move anyway.
I have seen a few LS1 cars pick up 10+ HP just from a tune with their cars being 100% stock.
So it would work out in your favor.
Another suggestion would be go real cheep and find someone selling theor 02/03 Z06 Cam for like 200/250 dollars. Gains of 20 horse are normally seen from this cam, and you will never even know it is there as far as idel quality goes.

The problem with the Z06 cam is that it make all its power up top and this is a yukon so I dont know if he wants to turn it up high. As for springs get some Comp 918's they work really good I think I use them on the Thunder 224

i thought about a used ls6 cam but it seems the power is where i would use it the least. so im looking for a better all around cam. because i could definetly use a little more grunt of the line

You want good average torque. The tighter the lobe the more "peaky" the torque. Use a 218/218/116 or something along that line...

We have sent out a few 218/218 580 580 camshafts for trucks, I wouldnt go much bigger than 218 or maybe 220 IMHO...
