Swapping Cams - Found valve marks on pistons.
Ok, so were taking a Speetek F1 cam (230/226 .592/.569 112+2), 918 springs, and pushrods out of my friends 99 TA and putting them in my 2001 camaro on Saturday. We pull the heads off of his car and can see that the intake valves have hit the #4 and #3 pistons. There were just slight marks where they touched, but I was kinda worried about putting this cam in my car, in case a lobe was ground wrong or something. It probably just happened when he overreved, but can't be for sure. No real damage, and couldn't see any mark on the valves at all. He said that he could use his die grinder and make a small relief on my piston, where it would possibly hit. Would this be worth doing, or should I just put the cam in and not worry about it. The cam isn't big enough to cause this in my opinion, but the proof is there that they there was some valve to piston contact. Any opinions?
