Thermostat
Been looking at thermostats for the ss. Do you have to get the one with the housing included (hypertech) or can you just get the thermostat alone? $55 is a lot for a thermostat lol.
Also should I get the 160 or the 180? I live in louisiana and it gets very hot 80% of the year, in the winter it hardly ever drops below freezing. My car seems to run a lot smoother at colder engine temps.
Also I do have HPTUNERS so I can tune the fans for either thermostat.
Thanks in advance.

depends on what style water pump you have. i learned this the hard way. i ordered a Ls1/ls6 mr gasket 160 thermo from summit. on package though it said "late model" and its the drop in kind. I however have an early model 2000 water pump. the thermo and the housing is all one piece.
IF you have the later style water pump i have a 160 thermo ill sell you for 35 shipped

old style pump: thermostat and housing are integral.
new style pump: thermostat and housing are separate.
I'm not sure how/what year/model defines new or old style pump, I just know one when I see it
(the integral thermostat/housing doesn't fit all the way into a new style pump).
