ok guys... really need advice!
Here is were i am at: I have a 98 camaro with bolt ons with a F-13 Camshaft that is now blown up. I was supposed to be pulling motor tonight but we shall she about that. I have to have a motor by tomorrow. I have a LQ4 for 1500 dollars that i looked at today. Out of a 2004 GMC denali. I heard it run, oil checked out and it fired right up. I get just about everything with it. Also a 90-warranty. 61k miles on the Truck. A little pricy i know. but it checks out....
I also found today at a friend of a friends shop a 2001 LS1 shortblock with 90k miles History unknown, for 600 dollars. He will throw in a set of 241 heads for a 100 more dollars.
Im new to the LSX scene and dont really know what to look for wear on a short block. Im torn on what i should get. Plans are to reuse the same cam and swap everything over onto the new engine and be back in business within a week.
Ideas????

here in az you can get a long block ls1 or lq4 for 600 short block for 450 you wont be able to use the accessories from the lq4 you will need to swap intake oil pan water pump and all accessories from your engine also i will change the heads from the lq4 they are 71cc i will go with 64cc heads or lower and then you will make good power with your cam lq4 compression is about 9.56:1 ls1 is 10.01:1 if you can get a lq4 short block for about 500 go with it if not go with the ls1 is the cheapest rout
