Default What is this hose?

98 LS1 Formula M6.

On the drivers side valve cover there is a rubber hose that connects at the back of the valve cover and bends off to the center of the engine, then connects to the drivers side valve cover via a 3/8's ish nipple.

What is this hose and where do I find a replacement?

It's a gooey mess and is all but torn in two.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the PCV (positive crankcase vent) hose. The dirty engine vapors travel through those hoses to the vacuum port on the intake manifold.

Check with the dealer for a replacement ... or maybe a junkyard if you can find one in good shape.

Its the PCV and they are notorious for rotting off. That hose is difficult or impossible to locate now and if you did it would be expensive, likely $100 or so. I would suggest capping the valve cover ports, and buying an LS6 valley cover. It is the way to go with PCV systems on these engines IMO. It breathes from under the intake instead of the valve covers. It cleans up the PCV system/engine bay, eliminates the PCV valve, and acts as a catchcan to keep oil from getting to the intake. You could likely get the whole setup for about $80. Search around for LS6 PCV and you will find lots of info on it.

Thanks, I'm looking into that now.

For the time being, could I buy a section of rubber hose as temp fix?

Havn't found any info on what to use to cap the PCV port on the valve cover. What did you use?

Generic rubber hose will work, if you can make it fit.

Twicepipes, welcome to LS1tech!

Make up a sig showing what you have so you won't always have to add it in.

I hope this helps:
