Default Yes, another "what cam is best.." post

Well I've just about finished my ls1 swap into my 88 camaro. So over the winter id like to find a cam to suit my needs. Im not really interested in peak numbers as I am with stock-like driveability, decent gas mileage, good idle, decent power(better than stock) and also a good torque range from idle to redline. Pretty much I want this to be a fun cam around town as the car is my dd. Right now I have a catback with a cutout and custom y, and other than that the engine is pretty stock. Im going to change over to a ls6 intake also when I do the cam swap. However the heads will stay untouched. I've read quite a few" what cam is best for me" threads but none to my knowledge cover my desires. Any info on your cam and your experience with it will be appreciated!

I got the torquer2 and love it. Just wish I went with the 3, but was looking for something a little more dd. It's got great power from 1800 to 6000. Overall I am happy with it. Could also look into the 224 or the 228. Heard those are great for dd and make some great power gains.

What type of manifolds? For stock I would get a cam that was designed for stock manifolds, for shorties or LTs I'd go with a TR224. It would deliver exactly what you are wanting.

Manual, and I was also looking at both cams for a bit and compared them and they made me feel as if the v3 was better.. er more advanced lol. And right now im rocking some stock manifolds but id like to upgrade to some lts. I don't think they've made any midlenth or shorties yet for my swap. I also did hear that 01+ the stock manifolds flow as much if not better than shorties?

if they are the Z06 manifolds they do flow really well... there is an article that compares the old manifolds to the z06 manifolds to 1 5/8 and 1 3/4 LT headers. the Z06 manifolds were pretty much equal to the 1 5/8 LT headers (peak power, im sure the LT's made a little more power throughout the power band). I just put in a 233/237 cam, i have the Z06 manifolds with gutted cats, havent cranked it yet but it should flow better than alot of people think... we will see

You need something similar to- 228/230 .588 111

You sould enjoy that cam quite a bit and have power everywhere.. You won't have to spin very high either which is nice for a DD. It also will allow you to cheaper on heads/intake/etc..
