97-98 LS1 heads are perimeter bolt, 99-02 LS1 heads are centerbolt.

Aren't 97-98 heads the 806 casting number, 99-00 heads are 853, 01+ are 243? 99 and up are centerbolt like PSJ says.

One of the sponsors says the 241's will flow a hair better untouched stock.

01+ heads are 241, 243's are ls6. and from all that i've seen and read the 241's do flow better then the 806/853's.

I guess my next Q is would I have to have another pair of heads off of a 00(my car's a 00) or can I use the 99 or newer? I'm wanting to get a extra set of heads.

LS1's didnt end in 2002, they have been in thousands of cars in 2003 and 2004. They started in 97 as well, not 98.
