Default what else should be done with a basic cam swap?

i have an 01 ss with 85000 miles....completely stock ls1......im eventually goona do an ls3 swap, but for the time being thought that a cam would be nice.......the only mods im goona do before the swap is going to be a cam, and maybe FTRA or something.....headers and exhaust are goona wait......so with that being said, if i swap to a fairly large cam like the vindicator (please no cam suggestions), what else should be done? do i have to do lifters and pushrods now? i know people say do the oil pump and ls2 chain while your there, but is it really necessary to do guys? thanks

im wondering my self on the lifters b/c you have to pull the heads then and that raises the price of the install new head bolts surfacing the heads etc.? also the trunion upgrade seems pretty much mandatory as well ?

Basic, I would do the oil pump, timing chain. Jam the cam in and tune it. Would say that is the basic cam swap method.
