Default Would bouncing off the rev limiter with an A4 cause a valve spring to break?

Last season my trans was slipping pretty bad and I has bounced off the rev limiter at WOT a few times. Now, I just had a valve spring break and it bent the valve. I am just curious if this had anything to do with it or I just had a bad spring. only have about 4K miles on them, if that.
thanks

What springs are you using and what is the rev limiter?

Well, I had my car in at the dealer, the porter revved my car several times to 6k rpm while cold - <35 miles later I broke a spring...
