Default Trying to pick out the best cam for a road race setup

I'm building a new motor for my Trans Am this season. I am going to be running a stock LS1 bottom end with ARP rod bolts, LS6 heads, Ported 90/90 and all the bolt ons. I'm trying to figure out what kind of cam to run for this setup. I want to make between 400-425 to the wheels. I definitely want to run something mild that drives like stock but still makes good power and has a bit of a lope to it. I really am not sure what to look for in a cam that would be good for a road racing application. I suppose I need something with a good low end power band. I have been looking at the TSP 228r camshaft. Seems just right for what I'm looking for. What do you guys think? Any other camshaft recommendations or would a custom spec'd cam be worth looking into?

From what I've heard, you should take a look at the GM ASA cam. Sounds like it would suit your needs.

228r is a good choice and a lot of guys like to recommend the torquer V.2 . I am running an EPS 230/238 which probably behaves somewhat similarly. Great for both road race and drag, though I probably would go with 113LSA or 114LSA next time around.
