Cam Help and Other Questions
So I recently bought an LS1 for a swap that will be taking place very shortly. I am looking to buy a cam for the car. I want something that will be good for daily driving and provide nice sound. Intake and exhaust will be taken care of upon install and I plan on getting it tuned once it is up and running. What would you guys suggest? Also, while the motor is out of the car is there anything else you guys would suggest doing/upgrading? Engine has 40k on it. One more question. I see people buying different intake manifolds and TB's. Say I go with Fast, the price difference between 90 and 102 isn't much if any, so is there a reason why I wouldn't want the 102? Do you need more supporting mods for it? I'm sure I'll have more questions. Thanks for the help guys.

I agree with above on the intake - buy the FAST 102.
The cam will require supporting mods to the motor, depending what it already has. If stock will will need upgraded valve springs, and hardened push rods for starters. Also recommended would be a trunion upgrade to the rockers, and an LS2 chain. Finally, consider an upgrade to the oil pump.

I guess at some point I would like to be in the 400 hp range. The motor is stock out of a 04 GTO so I will definitely upgrade the parts recommended when upgrading the cam.
Thanks for confirming about the Fast 102. I figured my best bet would be to go with it but wanted to confirm that I wouldn't be doing any harm.
Anyone else have suggest for a cam for this setup? Thanks again

i have heard good things about the 228r cam but ive read so many things about people saying they wanted a bigger cam after putting one that size in. its a very opinionated topic.

Reviving an old thread.
So I went ahead and bought a torquer v2 along with: springs, pushrods, ls7 lifters, ls6 oil pump, and timing chain.
Now I would like to buy new heads and Fast 102 for my next mods. Can someone suggest some heads for me?

Really depends what your budget is but if your wanting to stick with a stock casting and save some coin our 2.5 LS6 cylinder heads work great, and if you've got a little more to spend and want to step up to a full aftermarket casting I recommend looking at our PRC 227 cylinder heads. Feel free to give us a call we are happy to help get you into a setup that fits your goals best.
