Should I do a 408 stroker while doing H/C?
I'm about to get my car into a shop for new springs, new cam, new lifters, new exhaust and a new tune. The appointment is scheduled in 2 weeks.
I'm thinking; is it that much longer to drop the engine and swap shortblocks while at it? Anyway, they need to lift the heads(getting milled).
I could sell my forged 347 after and repay in part for the cheap Gen III iron 408!!
How much more am I looking at for the labor itself?
Money is a bit tight, but not that much. I know I want a stroker some day anyway..
Or I keep the forged 347 and beat the **** out of it till it blows!!

It's really up to you man, but I can tell you I LOVE my 408 and every time I romp on it glad I went that direction
But, if you don't have the money for all the best parts in the bottom end of the 408 I'd wait. The added cost you'd be looking at is the block, bore/ hone, crank, rods, pistons and rings, plus balancing, setup and assembly and you know how all this can add up quickly....plus you will want a bigger cam than you planned on putting back in it

I'm running a 255/263 .624/.624 115 lsa in my 408 with 12.5:1 scr, and 8.22:1 dcr if that helps...also on top I have an Edelbrock proflo xt intake (probably too tall for your car at almost 11"s ) which really broadened my power band end helped idle. If you plan I'm running a stock style intake like a FAST is look at something like a mid 24x/ high 24x around .600" lift and a 115-116lsa with that large of a duration, then once you pick your cam check a good calculator to see how much you can mill off your heads to get the right dcr.

is that one of comp cams stroker cams, and just curious what heads are you running and where does your power start to drop off? Sounds like your cam is just about the perfect one for most 40X ci...good track time too!
