what is a stock 06 GTO intake?
looking to get a better intake for my 98 z28 and found a guy selling his stock intake off of his 06 GTO i was wondering if that was an upgrade from mine and if it would swap onto my new ls6 heads?

It would swap right into your heads, but you're going to need a new throttle body.
But I wouldn't do it, because it's not any better than your LS1 intake and you can get an LS6 intake for just as much that is better and easier to swap in without requiring a new throttle body.

Ls2 intakes came with a 90mm tb, but it is drive by wire, so either way you'd need to get a new tb. The ls2 intake has the larger mouth than the ls6 intake, but the ls6 had a superior mold design and yeilded more power than the ls2 intake which is known for have very bad internal leaks that can not be fixed and robs performance.....I'd save the $100 and put it towards a used $300 ls6 intake.

There was a thread a while ago showing gains from a ported ls2 intake and a ls6 intake and the ls6 was proven better. Yes a ls2 has a bigger throttle body and plenum but the ls6 intake is a better design. If you are wanting to get a new intake either a fast or stock ls6 is what you want to get.

Let me get this straight. The noob that didn't even know if a LS2 intake would fit his LS1 is laughing at a 4 year LS1 Tech member. The LS2 intake is a cheaply made POS, if it was manufactured the same way as the LS1 and LS6 intakes it would be a pretty good intake but instead GM cheaped out and it's no better than a LS1 intake because of it.

If you want a good LS intake to swap onto an LS1 with ease, just do what everyone does and pickup an LS6 intake. LS2 intake is a waste of time... and I didn't know you had to pickup a new TB until I read this thread, so it's an even bigger waste of time IMO.

^ that, Ported stock 78 is fine. If you want to upgrade, better put time/effort into a 90 or bigger. It's like gears... going from 3.42 to 3.73 is just a lost cause.
