Default About to tear into the engine....am I missing anything?

As the car sits, Ive got a 2003 Z06 with the only internal engine mod being a comp 230/232 592/595 111 cam thats been in the car for about 20K. Car currently has 44K on it.

Ive got a set of CNC'd Livernois stg 3 243 heads. Heads HAVE NOT been milled. Ive got replacement factory MLS head gaskets, new lifter trays, LS7 lifters, the comp trunion upgrade, comp pushrod length checker, and FAST 36 lb/hr injectors.

So, IN THEORY, pushrod length should remain the same as what Im currently running?

Regardless, Ill be checking both PTV (via the clay method) and the pushrod length with the checker. Just want to make sure I have the procedure down....

1. #1 cylinder at TDC
2. head installed and torqued with head gasket installed
3. insert pushrod checker and torque rockers to 22 ft/lbs
4. adjust checker as needed to arrive at zero lash
5. check length of pushrod checker and add lifter preload to arrive at final length (what is range for LS7 lifters?)

Am I missing anything else before I get started? From the reading Ive done, the head swap should be fairly straight forward, I just want to make sure Im not skipping any critical step in setting up the valve train.

Thanks

You don't need to torque the rocker for checking PR length. BTW you don't want TDC either. The intake valve is opening.

You want both valves closed on their base circle.

fair enough, so whats the best way to determine when a particular cylinder has both lifters on the base circle? Thanks!

I checked PR length with the opposite head removed. I visually verified the cam was at the base circle.
