Default Blown Head Gasket

So i just blew a head gasket on my 02 firehawk and since i have to get this done i want to swap the heads. I am pretty sure i want to get 799 or 243 heads since they are basically the same its a daily driver so im not looking to add massive HP I just want to get some more power and maximize my money. So after i get the heads i have about $400-500 to play with. What else can i do to get a little extra HP since the heads will be off?

What else is already done to the car? Forgive me if it's in your Sig, I can't see it on my phone.

If it's stock...I'd do a lid unless you have the factory blackwing and the SSRA.

My car is pretty much stock all i have is a SLP MAF, SLP ypipe, SSRA Ram air MSD Wires, subframe connecters, so pretty much stock. The reason the gasket blew on a daily driver is cause i have 100,000+ miles on the car.

I was thinking of throwing the LS6 CAM mild bump in performance and under budget.

100k on an ls1 is just getting broken in lol it should not have blown the head gasket, did you over heat it or something? but to answer your question the heads are a good start but instead of the cam i would go with a good set of lt headers and if you have some money at the end then look into a cam but remember even with the ls6 cam you still need new springs and pushrods unless you get true ls6 heads with the longer sodium valves in them...

Yeah it did over heat twice when i had a leak in a radiator hose. It was fine for awhile then all of a sudden i got oil mixing in my radiater f#ck!ng sucks. And on top of that my rack and pinion needs to be replaced. She has seen better days. I dont want to deal with longtubes since i am in CA had some on another car and smog was a pain.

So i think this is what i am doing
243 or 799 heads depending on price
02 Z06 Cam
PAC 1218 Beehive Valve Spring or maybe the Z06 springs since ill have the cam
Tune

I figure i will get about 25 HP
