Thumbs up And another GM Grand Am Cup cam setup, this one from Down Under.

After 8 months of down time on my car I have it running. Engine combo is 346 LS1 with Grand Am Cup cam kit from Scoggin-Dickey, ported LS1 heads, Manley valves and springs, titanium retainers, JE pistons, crower rods, TR oil pump and rocker spacer. I also bought a new TCI flexplate (the factory flexplate decided to let go of the ring gear and make it's way through the bell housing, causing the down time, and my decision to rebuild the engine ), and got rid of the Yank SS3800 converter for a YTP4400.

About the only drama I had with the install of the engine was the factory ignition leads were too short when the rocker spacers were installed. Sourced a good quality custom set the next day.

Didn't bother tuning with the airflow meter, seeing I have LS1 edit and EFILive V6.4, plus access to a eddy current dyno?? (Dyno Dynamics here in Oz) decided to do mafless straight off the bat. Tuning issues so far:

1. The aftermarket throttle body (Starr Performance T/B) wouldn't allow the car to idle. I installed the stock unit and now have the car idling at 1000rpm. Could probably drop it down to 900 if I realy wanted, but 1000 rpm sounds good.

2. Car shudders between 1600 - 2000 rpm at light throttle.

I haven't had the car on the dyno yet, as I only picked it up on Thursday. Will dyno it first up on Tuesday.

I've never heard a LS1 with a lope like this, nor have I driven a car with such a BIG stall! I love it

Would like to take this opportunity to thank NoGo for his tuning tips, along with several tuners here in Oz.

Rev limit currently set to 6000. A bit low, considering the shift extension on the converter is 5500 rpm Will up the limiter to 7000 when it goes on the dyno, then determine where to set the limiter.

Need diff gears too. The 3.46 gears are too tall, will need to change to 3.73 or 3.91's soon.

Lauching isn't too bad, I ordered it with a low STR, which is probably why it's so loose. Thank god it has a lockup clutch.
