Default Intake Removal Question

I'm replacing the Castech heads on my '04 Suburban with a 5.3l. My Chilton manual recommends removing the fuel injectors before taking off the intake to avoid damaging the injectors. Is this really a necessary step?

You can remove it with the injectors still in the manifold. Just be careful not to smash it around while removing it

It's kinda easier to maneuver the intake with the rails mounted and injectors still in. Maybe different if you have have a truck manifold. Just my $. 02
