i recenly bought a 01 ss about two months ago and it has a loud valvetrain noise and im just starting to think about it.. at idle its find normal tick tap of an ls1.. but when im accelarating around 1500-2500 rpms is when it is loudest.. real loud tapping like valves or lifters.. then at 3000/3500 rpms it completely goes away and the engine get up and goes real nicely through the rest of the rpm band . (this is my time of accel) im thinking the guy before me put a mild cam in it and didnt upgrade any valvetrain.. or it could be something worse? what do you guys think???

Its hard to tell from your description. Take a video if possible and post it here then we can have a better idea and help you.
