What Rear gear to choose for New cam
Hey guys so when I bought my car it had 3.73's but that rear end blew up. I bought another factory one with 3.42's, I didnt feel a huge difference between the two until 4th and 5th gear but I felt like that ratio was perfect for me. I owned another fbody in the past with 410's but the car was otherwise stock. I felt like at times it was a little too low..
My dilema
I can now turn 1200 more RPM with my recent cam swap
My car is also a DD
I plan to do a 100 shot, Heads and intake this year
Id like to be able to hook up somewhat on the street in first and second
I dont want to spend an arm and a leg in tires
should I stick with 3.73's (which I found a good deal on) or go with 410's since I have more usable rpm now
Mods are
228r with BTR springs
SLP flopack, LT's, ORY, LM2, P&P TB

Your going to get a ton of different opinions here but mine is 3.73 if your daily driving it. Others will say 4.10s are over the 3.73's and they are not wrong but for a DD my preference would be 3.73.

I would think 3.90 would be a great compromise between 3.73 and 4.10. If you take it to the 1/4 it will most likely be at the top of 4th with 3.90, depending how tall of a tire you are running.
