Pulling apart my stock lq4. Was going to just throw some heads and a cam in but when I pulled the heads there was a lot of carbon build up. No metal at all that I could tell but also have a distinct line in the cylinder wall but you can't feel it at all.

I'm thinking about pulling it apart and cleaning and throwing some new rings and bearings at it. But then again....if I did that I might as well get some flat top pistons and have it re balanced!

Thanks for your opinion!!!

A few more. Just wasn't sure when it becomes to much. I guess I'll just clean the big stuff off and put it back together.

My LQ4 had does identical lines in a couple cylinders, that was 12000 miles ago and it's not missing a beat.

I like to raise each cylinder, clean that cylinder, then lower it to the bottom of the bore. From there, with duct tape, I tape a McDonald's straw to the end of the vacuum hose, then vacuum the cylinder, especially around/into the ring area.
Repeat for each cylinder.
