Red face mix match rods?

might be a dumb question ,but does it matter if rods are not "all" from the same crank/block?(5.7 ls1).

say i have 7 matching ,and need 1 more rod ,can i just slap on new bearings and let-er-eat?

or do i need them machined ?

The textbook answer is to check it out to spec and make sure its not out of round and re-size if required. I would def not just pull it from motor A and install it in motor B. You also have a balance issue on your hands.

Rebalance is not to be overlooked.

Find a rod that matches the others weight wise and check it out. Depends on what your intentions are for the motor to determine if you should go for rebalance. I would always recommend balancing though since it will just make everything run so much smoother!
