Default LQ4 motor swap?

Ok so I have a 2003 Silverado 1500HD with the 6.0 motor. It has 214k miles on it and has lost oil pressure. I found another 6.0 out of a 1999 Silverado 2500HD but I have heard that the crank is shorter. What are my options, any sort of adaptor or will only a 2003+ 6.0 work?

Thanks!

the 99 crank should be longer not shorter.

first determine why you lost oil pressure. it could be something as simple as the opsu cracking. that would be my first check.

is it making any noise yet?

OK, so the 99 LQ4 crank will be longer in the rear, to the tune of a ~1/4". The later ones had the shorter crank, same as LS1, but the flywheel had the ~1/4" spacer built into it instead. So if you are swapping from a newer style to the 99 style, you will need to use the flywheel that came with the 99. You wont have to buy any adapters or anything else, as long as you have that flywheel then you're good to go.
