Default Cam and 1.8 Rocker Arm question

I'm gonna go with the GM ASA cam for my 02 Z28. It will be pretty close to a year before I can get everything I need and get the time off to do the work. So I was wondering if by some chance I found a good deal on some 1.8 rocker arms, would it be worth it to use those compared to 1.7. I understand that it would be cheaper to just get a cam with a higher lift but I figured if I found a good deal it might be worth it. Also, would it even be safe to run the 1.8 rocker arms?

With the rockers you also will need springs. It might be a good approach if you plan to run the same rockers and springs with the ASA cam, however if not than don't waste the money.

I ran SLP 1.85 rockers on a 02 Z06 and IIRC it was about 12rwhp peak and a bit less through the band. Comp 918 springs.

There are a few guys who have run the higher rocker ratio with the hot cam with decent results. Might want to see what you can find on that.

I'm sure I would see 15 maybe 20 more hp with the 1.8's. I am more curious to if it would be safe for the valvetrain.

ASA cam has pretty gentle lobes compared to some of the more aggressive cam lobes. Lift is not real high either. I think it would be fine. Get a good beehive cam and shim for a higher seat value.
