Default 243 ?s

So if understand right the 243 ls6 head has a longer valve and a smaller base circle using the standard length pushrods. In 07 or so they started using a 243 casting on the 4.8 I know for sure.

My question is does anyone happen to know if the 243 from the late 4.8 runs the same length valve as the 243 from the ls6?

No they are shorter and heavier.
True LS6 243s have light valves, same size though 2.00 but with slightly longer stems.
It is not the heads that have a smaller base circle, it is the LS6 cam.

Ok so if then if you went with late 243s (non ls6) and ls6 cam you would have shorter valves and smaller base circle so potentially needing aftermarket pushrods?

Potentially needing longer pushrods. IIRC SDPC (sponsor) sells LS6 cams with 7.450 pushrods. I did a swap in a 98 before with LS2 243s and I used 7.425s
