Default Holley high ram or ls6?

Would a Holley high ram efi intake be worth any kind of gains over my ls6 intake? I'm trying to weigh the pro's and con's. I have a lq4 ,317 heads tu1 cam and a tc78. I have a 4" cervini hood so clearance isn't an issue.

Thanks for any advice.

Matt

Where do you want your shift points to be? The LS6 intake will be just fine in my opinion, but if you're wanting to spin this thing to 7000+ RPM's, then you will benefit from the Holley High Rise Ram. The longer runners on the Holley High Rise Ram make it breath much better in the upper RPM's.

IDK...haven't seen any NA engines improve using the Holley high ram air. One guy posted that he measured his runners (cross section) & they were different sizes. So, quality is an issue. May also explain why only the forced induction engines have made improvements while using it. Since you are turbo, will see gains over the LS6.

I shift at 6200 so the higher rpm wouldn't benefit me.

Stick with the LS6 intake then. Shifting at 6200 rpm's, you're not going to benefit from the Holley intake.

I don't think RPM has anything to do with it when you're force feeding the intake with boost.

I just don't know if the Holley can supply more air to the cylinder heads than the LS6...

You're correct. Forced induction, high RPM intake makes little difference.

Look in the dyno section. Everyone w/ forced induction has made more power w/ the Holley high Ram over the LS6.

Its not just the hood. Butchering the cowl is a must do. I bought a hi ram and returned it. A lot of technology from GM is put into the heads and intake for injector angle and port size and all the other factors. The CNC head vendors take it even further. The Holley pretty much eliminates all of it. Its very cool and big. No two ports match each other let alone the ports on my heads. There is pretty much no injector angle. More or less straight down. Some of the casting is .... "off" at best. If they come out with a version ll that addresses these issues I would buy it. I wonder how many guys did not notice these issues and could not see past how cool it looks.

Not sure about the Holley, but my Edelbrock proflo was "close" but I still ended up put a few hours in porting it out to get it where I wanted it.

These are just like a fiberglass body kit...can you buy it and just slap it on? Yeah kind of...but without extra work they won't fit perfect.

I looked at the edelbrock today. The price makes it attractive. I have fast fuel rails, will those work with the edelbrock?
