Block built for nitrous am I able to go SC instead?
I have a 5.3 block stroked to a 383 Stroker built and the rings gapped for a 200 shot. Is there anyway possible I can run a SC on it? If i put lets say some 317 heads to drop the compression? If not what would be needed ie piston swap and rings? Or should I just yank the block and sell and buy one built for a SC?
At the moment I am running 243 PnP heads that are 59cc which my compression is around 11.5-11.75 to 1. Just NA. And I have yet to go with nitrous. And I am leaning towards a SC

I don't think I was explaining myself properly. I understand the question of how much boost and to that I don't know.
I'm referring to the block itself. Is it able to run FI? It would be a Novi 2k from ecs. I know I would have to run a different cam and heads to lower the compression to below 11-1.
My main concern is it okay to run FI on a block built for Nitrous. I would foresee the block is built to run at a higher comp do to the rings being gapped for nitrous. But would running a lower comp and SC hurt the motor more than just running high comp and put nitrous on it
Thanks for the response and I hope this answers your question besides the amount of boost

That is why answering how much psi do you plan on running? If insane amounts, obviously it would be better to prep for boost, but if it is less than 1 bar, your block will be fine.

Are you asking if the rings and flat top pistons would work? The answer is yes.
Rings prepped for nitrous would work fine for boost.
You just need to get the compression down with 72cc heads.
I'd prefer to run a SC on a little bit higher compression to keep it it from feeling soft off boost. 10.1 works well.

Yes Jake that was the overall sum up question and answer. Thank you for the info. It looks like I'm in the market to find some 72cc heads. Will have to research what type will be best
