Most Advance Suitable
What is the most advance a small emissions legal cam designed for factory manifolds and cats should have ground into it? +4, +6? Probably going to do an XFI 218 230 on a 116 LSA so -8* overlap. Just debating between how much advance for the ICL.

That cam will have -6* overlap once ground. 218/230 XFI will come out as a 220/232.
To know how much advance will depend on the rest of your setup and where you wish to have the power band. Advancing will change IVC and that will dictate your peak along with (intake and if heads ported or not). In stock cubes, I like 42 IVC wich would mean 116+4 LSA (112 ICL).
So give us more info about the motor and power range desired.

2001 car so stock ls6 intake, ported tb, slp lid, 25% ud pulley, straight through muffler catback, stock heads and short block, 3.42 gears, stock tire size. Just looking at good street manners and possibly some road course track days later on if my DSM keeps being a PITA and I sell it. I would like a cam with steady power everywhere and anything above 6500 is not that important.
