Default Knocking need help

Started the car this morning and after about 30 seconds I heard this clank/knock. I didn't have time to wait so I drove it to school and it seems to be running fine. The oil pressure is normal (50psi at idle) and throttle response is the same. The sounds seems to be following the RPMs, anyone who can give me advice on what it is or help. The car is a 01 trans am with 147k on the clock with a lid and catback

if its actually knocking then your fucked. rebuild time. are you sure its not a valve train related noise or a messed up lifter/cam noise?

Are you sure its "knocking" or is it ticking? Can you hear it on one side or the other? Can you hear it under the car? Diagnose where the noise is coming from, then go from there. If you can get a video uploaded.

Well after listening to it I think it's a lifter that's bad because the sound is coming from top end of the motor and I've had a few people listen to it and they also think its a lifter ticking. But it isn't just a slight tick, it's pretty noticeable and sounds like a damn diesel

Gonna have to open the valve covers and start from there. I'm guessing you have a bad lifter and it's already begun chewing on the cam. Open it up before it gets worse.

If you still have oil pressure like you say you do I would say you are 99% safe on the bottom end. Probably a lifter, They will create some horrendous noise when they collapse fully.

These engines also have piston slap that will sound exactly like a lifter going bad. Happens when it is first started up.
