I pulled the engine out of the Hawk this weekend. Had a cam go bad and wanted to check things out and make sure there wasn't a bunch of metal in the pan. Luckily there wasn't. I pulled the heads as I am going to replace the lifters and run a little thinner head gasket. The car never used any oil until I did my H/C/I/E swap. Afterwards it started using quite a bit. The exhaust ports are caked with burnt oil. One port looks really strange. I'm guessing its been sucking oil out of the guide and pulling it out of the exhaust. The valve seals are new and were installed correctly. I'm going to find a competent machine shop and have them checked out. Just wanted to see if anyone has ran across this. Thanks.
This is another port, it doesn't have the clean spot but you can see it has a similar pattern coming from the guide.
Thanks.
