Default Myth Busters

These are some common myths :

1. Engine timing is BEST checked on #1 cylinder (WRONG)
The better choice IS #6 cylinder. (most engines have this cylinder in complement, though at the engine center)
2. Engine TDC using #1 cylinder (WRONG)
The better choice is to measure 2,3,5,8 cylinders as EQUAL distance from engine deck or plug hole if possible. (fast moving rod throw)
3. Engine camshaft overlap design amount, larger, will add top end high RPM power only (WRONG)
The engine requires an amount of overlap that is related to RPM Range.
Examples :
A DD LS-x AIR BOAT engine@3200 RPM 212/218@102 LSA
A STREET LS-x @7500 RPM 236/242@116 LSA
A PRO-STOCK LS-x @12,000 RPM 286/292@124 LSA

I would hope some here may want to ADD some Myth Busters.

I was hoping Jamie was going to blow something up in this thread.
