Default Say I wanted to buy the Lunati 408CI rotating assembly kit...

If I wanted to buy the Lunati 408 rotating assembly, what prep work would be needed, and can I just hone my block, or would It have to be sleeved? I think in there book they say it uses the stock bore (3.93 ), also are there rods good, crank good, overall, what is your opinion with there quality?

I think that Lunati 408 CI kit is designed to use a 6.0L Iron Block.

I would suggest a bore and line hone. I'm not sure if that rotating kit comes pre-balanced, but if it doesn't, balancing the kit will be very beneficial.

Overall the Lunati kit is pretty reliable. I've never heard of any real big known problems.

kcb is right. it is a 4" stroke crank and a 4.030 bore[stock bore on a 5.7 block is 3.900] so you need a 6.0 block .030 over or sleeve your 5.7 block. it's more cost effective to build a 383 [3.905 bore]you just bolt on the plates and hone the cyls. +.005 and align hone the mains, using arp main studs is a good idea.also the lunati crank and rods are fine but i dont really like their piston design, i would run a diamond or ross piston.
