Exclamation 99 LS1 Swap Tach Lead Question

I'm doing an LSx /4L60e swap in my 74 Vette. The issue I have is getting the #10 white tach out lead to put out an 8 cylinder signal instead of a 4 cylinder tach signal. I did some research and found the formula is derived from an equation beginning with the 24 tooth crank mounted reluctor wheel. I understand a divider is used to obtain the 4 cylinder signal out. (24/6=4) Can I take HP Tuners, change the divider of 6 used by the ecm and replace it with a 3? (24/3=8) And if so, wouldn't that output an 8 cylinder signal so my factory 1974 (modded electronic 75 model) tachometer will function correctly? I understand I can get a box from from several manufacturers for about n50 buck that will convert the signal, but if it can be done in software programming, I can do it for nothing put the 50 bucks towards a cam.
