Default Engine assembly oil deflector and transfer tubes rusting

I'm putting my motor back together, and have noticed that the oil transfer tubes and oil deflector plate have both flash rusted over the last two days since I cleaned them with solvent. Since I'm putting the motor back together and not starting it for a month or so, should I coat these with assembly lube?

Clean the flash rust off with a scotch brite pad and solvent again then spray them w/ WD40.

I considered WD40, but have had that stuff dy out on me before. When I received my roll cage material via mail, I cleaned it all up and coated it with WD40, only to find rust all over it a month later. I guess since these parts wont be exposed to the elements (while being assembled) the WD40 will probably hold up better, than some tubing layed out on my garage floor.

I would use motor oil or assembly lube.
