I'd rather make 450rwhp NA all day long and twice on Sunday over being turbo and only putting down 500rwhp. That's just me though.

Turbo LS cars are awesome, but might as well go big or go home if building one. Anything short of 700rwhp just doesn't seem worth it to me. A high HP NA car is way more fun than a lower HP turbo car.

It just doesn't seem like that good of a deal to me. $1500 for head work and BTR springs, PRC 225 as cast are only $1800, and Trickflow 220 as cast with powder metal guides and BTR or PAC springs are $2100. I'd spend the $300 more for the PRC's, the chambers and blows are CNC'd and hand blended into the ports.

OP look at it like this...let's just say $1200-$2600 for mild to wild heads for your ride. For double the price the high end heads might get you 20 hp over the cheaper ones. Is it worth it?? That's up to you

Exactly, people get wrapped up in dyno numbers all the time chasing 10-20hp. For a street car, not worth it imo. OP, how much power do you wanna make? Heck, the right cam and a set of stock 243's will make good power and not break the bank either. Low 400's all day.

Lots of options what to do?
Want vs afford

Problem with going through used heads is porting and springs are part of it.
If they guides are worn at all you can bet the valve job could be compromised. Get a vj without doing guides youre back to ground zero...and risking a failure. Thats an unknown potential repair/cost untilthey come apart. May get lucky may not.
btdt
Save and get the new stuff if you can.

Bingo. Made that mistake and learned that lesson the hard way. You never know what you're going to get with used heads. Material could be missing between the valves, guides worn, hairline cracks, etc. Save your money and buy new. Some things you can buy used and be okay, but heads, in my opinion, aren't one.

You'll probably never be happy no matter what HP level you're at. You get used to it after a pretty short amount of time and end up wanting more.
