Default Back pressure at oil filter. Messy oil changes

I recently swapped an ls1 into my truck, and removed a 4.8. The 4.8 had 153k miles on it, and when I would change the oil, the oil filter always came off dry, after draining the oil pan of course.

Ever since I installed the new 5.7, all my oil changes have been messy. I drain the pan, then remove the filter. About half way off, I get about a quart or so of oil that comes out of the filter nipple in the pan.

Why did the 4.8 not have this back flow of oil, and why does the new 5.7?

All of mine have oil come out of the nipple for quite a few seconds. Idk why the other did. If you have pressure spraying from around the seal when you crack the oil filter then you may have a lot of crankcase pressure.
