Default Gen. IV > Gen. III Conversion

Quick question:
When swapping out the gen. IV Ls2 in an '05 GTO and swapping in a Gen. III Lq (assuming the same 24x reluctor) is the cam/knock sensor breakout harness still needed? I know it is necessary if you're swapping gen. III > gen. IV and can only assume it works the same both ways. Can anybody verify this?

For what it's worth, I'm fully aware I can drill and tap the block to use the gen. IV sensors. I'm just trying to figure what would be the most cost effective and easiest route.

Thanks
Brandyn
