How much Torque am I going to loose? - Cam switch
Going from the origional G5 cam (224/230 .571/.581 112) to a 232/236 .59x/.60x on a 114+4)
(I am doing heads 5.3L heads as well) I am hoping for at least 400rwtq, but after seeing some post am I going to be S.O.L.?
Current numbers with stock heads in my sig ..
thanks,
Crowley

I just made 423rwhp and 398rwtq thru 4.10's by changing from my FM13 to a old MTI B1 (221/221 .558/.558 114lsa) cam. The key is having all the bolt ons, damn good heads, and a good tune.

My larger cam that I took out made more torque.. that's what I was getting at. 25rwtq more. I think the larger cam will make more. Go find all the 6 speed dyno graphs you can of cars with heads and cam packages. Everyone of them will make peak torque between 4800 and 5000rpms. A big cam starts coming on good in that range, so you'll have a higher peak torque number with a big cam... now at 3,000rpms it'll be a different story
